SB-2000 Mk2: sound card and CAT interface with
USB control
The SB-2000 Mk2 is an affordable interface for
transceivers with USB connector (full speed USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 are supported).
There is no need for a serial or parallel port on your computer. The SB-2000
contains a control CAT interface for the transceiver (incl. PTT,
FSK a CW) as well as a sound card interface for digital modes such as
RTTY, PSK32, SSTV, FAX, etc (using your computer's sound card).
The new 'Mk2' version of the SB-2000 interface now supports two ports
virtual serials! This is very useful as not all programs for
computers are capable of supporting mixed functions such as PTT and CW, plus
CAT on the same serial port. With the new version you have two serial ports
virtual ports, one for PTT and CW/FSK, and another port for CAT control
All signals are isolated optically or with transformers. Nutrition
is carried out over the USB line from the computer. Included in the supply is
a CD with USB drivers for Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Win7. MacOS
supported directly and do not require driver installation.
Dimensions 130x75x45mm.
Cable sets sold separately include
all cables needed for connections (CAT and data to the radio, USB and audio to the
computer).
The SB-2000 Mk2 includes an RS-232 to USB level converter, allowing the use of radio with RS-232 interface (FT-1000, FT-2000, FT-450, FT-950, etc.) The radio connection is made with a multi cable which also includes the CW signal. The CAT interface works up to a max. speed of 19200 Baud.
Note
on using the SB -2000 with the Icom
IC -7000:
The cable
ACC-103 has an internal bridge between
the coding lines for
FSK and CW . This
allows coding with just one
RTS signal line , e
works very well with IC -706, IC -7200,
etc. But with the IC-7000 a current
high shows up
these lines . The effect is that
the fan starts soon after
having connected the cable. In rare cases
cases the IC -7000 could be
damaged .
Quick solution :
do not connect the CW connector
from SB- 2000 to I C -7000.
It makes it unusable
the interface for telegraphy .
Other modes , such as PSK31 , RTTY
etc. are not interested .
Note : Some radios that support HF and VHF ( for example, IC -746, IC-7400 ) have lines separate PTT for HF ( HSEND) and VHF ( VSEND). SB -2000 interfaces have line only HSEND , therefore without modifications is usable only in HF . To use the interface also in VHF / UHF , you need to change the connector radio or line interface HSEND and VSEND simultaneously (bridge between HSEND and VSEND ). The radios like the IC- 706Mk2G and IC -7000 have the need? Of have a set of voice menu , in HSEND mode also keys the Tx in VHF and UHF .

Features
- Connect your computer with USB port. No need serial or parallel port
Most of Radio programs are built based on COM serial port of PC computer.
But the most latest PC computers don?t have a serial port.
- USB to UART bridge by FT232 single chip. USB 2.0 compliant. Full speed.
To be compatible with the legacy radio program, we still have to keep using serial port. That's why we choose to use USB to UART bridge which converts the USB to serial port. FT232R is very reliable industry single-chip USB to UART bridge.
- CAT, CI/V controller and audio transformer are combined together.
Not sophisticated software settings. Very clearly operate from reachable setting on the control panel. It supports CAT with RS232 protocol. So it's compatible with the most latest transceivers.
-
Complete
isolation between computer and radio station.
- Optical isolation used for digital signal.
- Audio signal isolated 1:1 transformer. It has internal static isolation. Excellent EMC(Electromagnetic compatibility)
- Operated by computer USB power. No need extra power.
When you are on your expedition or mobile, you will not have extra power headache with SB-2000. It uses the power from your computer's USB port.
-
Very
compact size, easy to carry.
Weight less than 400 grams. Pocket size only.
- Supply with full accessories.
It comes with USB, CAT or CI/V, Data and audio cables.

Functions
SB-2000 links your radio transceiver with the computer.
- Control radio operation via CAT, CI/V.
You can check your radio if it supports CAT or CI/V protocol from your computer.
- Operate RTTY, PSK31, SSTV, FAX, etc. digital mode.
From your computer you can easily operate digital mode with proper software. Turn yours computer into a professional expensive DTE.
- Transmit and receive CW.
If you want to be relax operate CW, you can choose to use software to send or receive CW. Use your computer keyboard instead of paddle or straight key. Read all received Morse code from your computer screen.
- Support ECHOLINK to control remote station.
- Record your SSB voice session.
- Support FSK operations.
