Principle of operation:
usually internal or external tuners can work in a limited range of impedances. Pairing with is not possible a short wire (short compared to the wavelength) due to its high impedance.
Also the wire is usually on the outside while the tuner is on the inside to the station, and cannot be connected to each other with coaxial cable...In these cases a tuner like that of SGC could help us - but, to what extent price! There are cheaper alternatives.

The MTFT MULTI is a transformer with three ratios 4:1 9:1 16:1. It reduces the high impedance of a short wire in a range that can then be tuned from a common tuner. The balun must be placed directly on the antenna connection spin; absolutely do not use a coaxial cable to power it. The MTFT is then connected to the tuner via coaxial cable, the VSWR will be less than 3:1, and losses will be low.

The antenna length must be at least 6m. The earth connection must be good, the ground must be connected with a clamp to the ground of the PL, not to the insulated container. If the ground to the balun is not available, at least the TRX must be connected to ground. If necessary, insert a common mode filter before the balun. A counterweight can be used instead of the connection mass.

F6JSZ installed a 20m windom, powered by a MTFT at one third of the length its length, and 20 m of coaxial cable. He wrote in the French magazine "CQ" to have an SWR better than 1.5:1 on all bands and...without tuner...!
The MTFT can be used not only with a wire, but with any metal object, water pipes, gutters, CB antennas (in this case, remove before use the matching elements from the antenna). The MTFT is also a great tool for the experimenters...
Obviously, it can be used in transmission, max. power of 100W PEP.

For SWLs, the MTFT is an ideal accessory: a simple connected wire to a receiver has a very poor and inefficient coupling with the MTFT coupling will be much improved. There is no need to add a further unit of agreement.
