ICOM announces the debut of the new IC-R6 portable receiver. This new model maintains the main features of its popular predecessor, IC-R5, to which new features are added in a newly designed case:

- Wide operating range from 100 kHz to 1309.955 MHz in AM, FM FMW;

- High scanning speed up to 100 ch/sec;

- Operational autonomy of up to 15 hours of reception (with the rechargeable batteries supplied), 50 mW audio output and 8 ohm external speaker;

- 1300 total memory channels that can be divided into 22 banks, 50 memories for scan limits and 200 memories with automatic recording function;

- 150mW audio output;

- VSC audio squelch control function ;

- Built-in ferrite antenna to improve medium wave reception;

- PC control via optional CI-V interface;

Wide receiving range: 0.100 to 1309.995 MHz: The IC-R6 extends the receiving frequency downwards starting from 100 kHz. Amateur radio broadcasts, AM (medium wave), FM, short wave broadcast stations, the audio of analogue television broadcasts (it is not possible to listen to the audio of digital TV broadcasts) and a variety of utility stations can be listened to;

Fast scanning, up to 100 channels per second: In VFO mode you can achieve a scanning speed of 100 channels per second. This increases the potential and efficiency when searching across the entire spectrum up to 1300 MHz.

- scheduled scan;

- scanning with automatic writing to memory;

- scan between memories;

- priority scanning;

- scan between memory banks;

- scanning on selected channels;

- scanning on subaudio tones;

- link scan

- Up to 15 hours of battery life: The IC-R6 has been designed to obtain maximum operating efficiency and the lowest possible current consumption. With the supplied rechargeable Ni-MH batteries it is able to provide up to 15 hours of continuous reception (50 mW audio output on 8 ohm external speaker).

- 1300 memory channels, 22 banks with 6 alphanumeric character indication: The IC-R6 offers 1300 memories, 50 scan limits and 200 memories with automatic writing.
The normal 1300 memory channels can be grouped into 22 banks (maximum 100 channels per bank), and bank scanning allows you to choose the desired banks for searching. Each memory, bank or scan limit can be identified with text of up to 6 alphanumeric characters.

- 150mW audio output: Low frequency circuit with BTL technology allows you to double the audio output level. The 36 mm diameter speaker is capable of managing 150 mW* of output even in particularly noisy environments such as the passenger compartment of a moving vehicle.

- Optional Desktop Battery Charger: The optional pan-type desktop charger, BC-194, charges Ni-MH batteries easily and eliminates the need for plugging and unplugging the device into the mains adapter.

- VSC audio squelch control: The VSC function allows you to unlock the audio only when receiving a modulated signal and ignores non-modulated carriers.

Other characteristics:

- Using the earphone cable (optional) you improve reception of the AM aeronautical range and FM broadcasting;

- High frequency stability ±1.0ppm;

- Low pass audio filter for high audio frequency noise reduction;

- Optional CI-V level converter (CT-17) for PC control;

- Optional air earpiece (SP-27);

- DC Power Socket: The DC power socket for operation using the BC-196SD AC power adapter or the CP-18E cigarette lighter plug cable. Ni-MH batteries are recharged during operations.
The power voltage applicable to this socket is 4.5 VDC (4.5 ~ 6.3 VDC).

- Compact, moisture-resistant construction: The IC-R6 has an ultra-compact case with small dimensions (58 x 86 x 29.8 mm) and weighs only 200 g. It fits easily in the palm of your hand or in your shirt pocket and its moisture-resistant construction is ideal for outdoor use.

- Ferrite antenna for AM: The contained ferrite antenna allows excellent reception with good sensitivity of AM stations in Medium Waves. This allows you to listen to these broadcasters without the need to connect an external antenna.

- CTCSS and DTCS: CTCSS and DTCS tones allow silent standby reception while waiting for a signal with the right tone to be decoded. This makes it easier to monitor for example a particular repeater or a particular station etc. The tone scan function reveals the frequency of the tone used on a channel. The pocket beep function alerts you with an acoustic signal when a signal with the right tone is received.

- PC programming: Using the optional CS-R6 cloning software, the contents of the memories (frequency, name, category, group name, settings etc.) can be easily set.
