The FLEX-8600 offers the maximum performance of direct sampling SDR technology
With the FLEX-8000 series (consisting of the 8400, 8600, 8400M and 8600M models), FlexRadio launches the new generation of high-class SDR transceivers.
The FLEX-8600 is based on the architecture of its successful predecessor, the FLEX-6600, but features a CPU with approximately four times the performance and an FPGA with double the performance. This performance increase not only ensures shorter boot and loading times, but more importantly forms a solid foundation for the implementation of numerous future features that could not be achieved with the resources of previous hardware.
One of the first of these upcoming innovations is "adaptive pre-distortion" (APD) which, according to the manufacturer, offers the cleanest signal on an amateur radio platform.
All FLEX-8000 models also come with integrated GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) functionality and a future integrated NTP time server as standard. This ensures that all FLEX-8000 transceivers always remain on exactly the same frequency. But even without a direct view of the sky, the FLEX-8600 can continue to use the internal TCXO.
High performance receivers are designed as direct scan SDR receivers. The impressive sampling rate of 245.76 Msps exceeds even current 8400 series devices by two times! The AD converter has a word width of 16 bits. This results in an exceptional RMDR value of 115 dB (at 2 kHz spacing). As a visible result of this high-level digital technology, the user has a spectrum width of up to 14 MHz at his disposal, much more than enough to simultaneously monitor numerous amateur radio bands and organize his activities accordingly. With a minimum resolution of the viewable spectrum of 1.6 Hz/Px, the FLEX-8600 far surpasses the 8400 series models (minimum resolution of 5.85 Hz).
The frequency range of the receiver extends from 30 kHz to 54 MHz, while the transmitter is limited to the amateur radio bands. Furthermore, the band filters have been designed to be more selective: 7-pole filters are now used for the competition bands and 3-pole filters for the remaining bands. The number of independent receivers has also been increased from 2 to a full 4 receivers. The transmitter of the FLEX-8600 offers a transmit power of 100W (PEP, 25W AM), the suppression of unwanted by-products is better than 60 dBc.
Thanks to the integrated automatic antenna tuner, even imperfectly matched antennas can be tuned without any problems (SWR up to 3 : 1).

Support adaptive predistortion

The FLEX-8600 model is designed for the radio amateur who wants to use the radio exclusively as a server from a PC, laptop, Maestro , Mac* or iOS* client, both local and remote. Both models share the same band awareness, industry-leading phase noise performance, brick wall filters and legendary audio performance to deliver maximum enjoyment in a wide variety of operating styles.

With a PC, laptop or Mac client you can use up to two 14 MHz spectrum/cascade displays and independent receivers to revolutionize your view of the bands. Its two receivers can be positioned simultaneously on any band and mode with instant QSY between VFOs. Operation in digital mode is a dream with no sound cards, cables or boxes needed.

FlexRadio's industry-leading SmartSDR TM software offers compatibility across the entire FLEX-8000 Signature Series family to deliver continuous leveraged software improvement. And you can use the latest SmartLinkTM technology to access your radio virtually anywhere from any SmartSDRTM compatible client with just a login and password, even your iPhone.
